From Brokenness to Breakthrough: Mary’s Journey Through Momentum

Life has a way of throwing unexpected challenges our way. For Mary, the journey was especially harrowing—a battle with grief, financial instability, and the heavy burden of feeling alone. Her story is one of heartbreak, resilience, and the transformative power of community and faith.

A Life in Shambles

Mary’s life took a turn when she lost her husband, Ian, to suicide. His struggle with anxiety and job loss created an emotional chasm that neither could bridge. After a series of setbacks, the weight of his pain became unbearable, leading to a tragedy that left Mary reeling.

In the days following, Mary grappled with guilt, asking herself, Why couldn’t I stop this? Why wasn’t I enough? Her grief spiraled into mental health struggles, culminating in a visit to her doctor, where she admitted, “I’m suicidal.” This was the turning point that led her to seek therapy, lean on her son for support, and eventually discover the Momentum program.

Momentum: A Safe Place to Heal and Grow

Initially, Mary had no idea what to expect from Momentum. She entered the program burdened by fear and self-doubt but was met with warmth and understanding. “I was so afraid of judgment,” she recalls. “But when I walked in, I just felt this peace.”

Her coach, Crystal, immediately saw Mary’s pain but also her potential. Through encouragement and practical guidance, Crystal helped Mary take small but meaningful steps forward. “It’s okay to be broken,” Crystal told her. “But we’re going to take a step forward, even if we don’t know what’s ahead.”

Momentum offered more than just emotional support—it provided Mary with practical tools like résumé writing, budgeting, and interview preparation. These skills became stepping stones on her path to recovery.

Finding Hope and Giving Back Through Momentum

The program not only helped Mary regain her footing but also inspired her to give back. She now volunteers at the same food bank where she once sought help, offering prayers and encouragement to others in need.

“Momentum has come full circle for me,” Mary shares. “I started out at the food bank, and now I get to pray over people there. Sometimes they’re hesitant, but once they open up, it’s incredible to see the change.”

Through her church and community groups, Mary also mentors others, sharing the hope and peace she has found. “I want people to have the joy and encouragement I have,” she says. “Momentum gave me the confidence and skills I needed, but it also reminded me that I’m not alone.”

The Power of Community, Faith, and Momentum

Mary credits her transformation to the safe space Momentum provided and the Holy Spirit’s work through the program. “Momentum was the reason I was okay,” she says. “It gave me a place to cry, laugh, and learn.”

Her journey serves as a testament to the power of community, the importance of vulnerability, and the profound impact of faith. For those struggling, Mary’s message is clear: hope and healing are possible, one step at a time.
