Teaching Kids How to Serve

We started a Home Group for Pantego Bible Church in the River Trails area.  We have since grown into a very large but close community.  We have a bunch of kids in the group, the oldest being 9.  The group has been meeting for almost two years now and have been trying to figure out a way to teach our kids how to serve.  We continuously ran into minimum age problems.  I was looking on the 6 Stones website for some help ideas and came across an article talking about serving with kids! One of the suggestions was to collect food or clothes and drop it off at the 6 Stones location and let the kids take a tour and see where the food/clothing was going to go.

We decided to make a flyer and pass it around in the Lakes of River Trails East neighborhood and take it up to 6 Stones.  After we had made our plans for the week and timing of our collection date, I went back to the 6 Stones website and saw that they were planning a Family Serve Day for the same day that we were going to come unload our collection!  God works in amazing ways.  The kids were able to collect a truck bed full of food and showed up on Family Serve Day and got to label and sort the food.  When they were done they were able to help sort and fold clothes also.

Our group is very encouraged that a local organization is looking for ways to help families to lead their kids to serve others.  Thank you 6 Stones for what you are doing and we look forward to a long relationship in teaching our children how to serve!
