Spring planting extravaganza
Over 100 of our neighbors participated in the Spring planting extravaganza on Saturday. Bedford City Council and Beautification Commission members joined 6 Stones leaders to break ground on the Bedford – 6 Stones Community Garden pavilion. Texas Master Gardeners offered classes on composting and Planting a Pizza Garden.
Following the ground breaking, the Bedford Beautification Commission presented a $10,000 check for the planned 1,800-square-foot pavilion.
“This is now a certified teaching and training facility for the Tarrant County Master Gardeners Association and AgriLife,” said Bedford Beautification Committee Chairman Michael Boyter. He added that the garden creates opportunities not only for teaching people, but also for folks to get to know their neighbors. Watching the participates on Saturday it became clear, what started as just a garden in the community has become a community that gardens.

Nice! Glad to hear everyone came together like they did.

What a enthusiastic crowd at the Grand Opening! I would like to personally thank the young ladies who helped move and plant all the seedlings that I brought for my garden plot. It was a delight to speak to the gardners willing to help and share information, and the non-gardeners willing and excited to learn. This is a great concept, and God willing, the weather will cooperate to have a bountiful crop to share this year.

I agree the crowd was amazing! Everyone pitched in and helped each other. It truly is a "community" garden. Happy planting!
