Community Garden Moves Forward

The Community Garden is moving forward with help from the City of Bedford and we are so excited!  The concrete blocks we will use to construct the garden have been delivered.  Can’t you just taste those delicious, mouth-watering, homegrown tomatoes right now?!

A lot of people have expressed interest in adopting a garden plot and we expect them to go fast!

What is your interest?  We need help in planning, bed preparation/construction, planting, teaching, year-round gardening (Adopt-a-Plot), plus dependable highly motivated volunteers to help with a variety of community efforts throughout the growing season.

Would you like to volunteer?  Visit 6stones.org/Community-Garden.  Some of the start up of Phase 1 will entail construction of beds, adding soil, spreading mulch and much more.  Yes, you can play in the dirt.

Would you like to Adopt a Plot?  Click for the Adopt-a-Plot application.  Plots come in 3 sizes and are available on a First Come, First Served basis.  Plots are limited and we don’t expect to have any lonesome vegetables.

Location of garden:  The 6 Stones Community Garden in Bedford will be located due north and directly adjacent to our offices at 209 N. Industrial, Bedford, TX, 76021.

The time lines for the start-up of Phase 1 and planting of the garden are based on the approval process of the City of Bedford but we do feel that it will happen very soon, within the next 2-3 weeks, but things could proceed even in the few days!   So, let us hear from you ASAP!

I had been thinking about planting a garden but didn't know where to do it. I had even thought about the vacant church land….thinking it would be a perfect spot to grow a garden; but, I figured it would need a tall fence encircling it to keep passers-by from stealing . Amazed to see I haven't been thinking alone. With the price of groceries and gasoline, people will need to learn to garden and to share.
